High SPRs (≥4–6) give drawing hands and hands with multiple streets of equity more room, so you should favor hands with good playability and implied odds (e.g., suited connectors, two-gappers) in those spots. Use preflop sizing to manipulate SPR: larger opens or overbets reduce SPR, forcing opponents into simpler decisions; smaller opens increase SPR and create richer postflop play where skill differences matter more.
Endgame execution is about planning the line before you see all streets. For example, if you raise preflop aiming for a low-SPR pot because your opponent overfolds, choose hands that do well in low-SPR situations (top pairs with decent kickers, two-pair combos, or shove-range hands). Conversely, if you expect a high-SPR battle, pick hands that can realize equity or outmaneuver opponents postflop. When committing chips late in tournaments, consider reverse implied odds and endgame variance: a play that looks +EV chip-wise may be -EV in ICM terms. In heads-up final tables or short-handed endgames, set traps by controlling SPR—induce shoves from overzealous opponents by keeping SPR moderate, or punish passive players by deliberately increasing SPR and outplaying them postflop. Finally, refine shove sizes and bet sizes for all-in or near-all-in turns by thinking in pot fractions—what pot size gives your opponent incorrect odds to call, and what sizing maximizes your fold equity while preserving value?
